PROGRAMS AND CLASSES

Stratford Fencing Club aligns all of our activities with Sport Canada's Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) model and armband system.

We are also proud to join the Respect in Sport movement. It is important training for coaches, parents, and participants to help in creating a safe, healthy and respectful environment for everyone, and will be mandatory at our club.
Stratford Fencing Club does admit students periodically throughout the season independent of lesson cycles and prorates accordingly. Classed are limited in size, so preregistration is necessary. Any classes missed due to illness or fencer-related scheduling remains the fault of the fencer and will not be reimbursed by SFO.

Individual Lessons

Individual Lessons can be discussed with coaches and dependent on coach availability/match. Present rates are $2/min (senior coaches) or $1/minute (junior coaches).  A floor fee of $40 per session is charged for visitors, unless waived by coaches.

* We provide all equipment necessary to fence, except non-marking sneakers.

Recreational fencers must own their own electric gear, including lame, or pay rental fees. We offer equipment rental (any piece) for $10/month, payable before use.

Competitive team members must have a full kit for electric fencing, including named lame and two weapons.

**
SFO is a member in good standing with the Ontario Fencing Association.  For insurance purposes, all fencers (including minifencers) must also join the OFA, so this fee is folded into the fees for classes, and we take care of it for you.

Competitive Fencers are required to become members holding either competitive memberships ($80) which includes Canadian Fencing Federation membership and license. or the U15 competitive membership ($45) if under 14 years of age.

However, we recommend that all our fencers join the Canadian Fencing Federation as part of their memberships as this is the primary means to support our sport and its development in Canada nationally.  This is a $22.50 annual cost which not only provides resources for the national development of fencing in Canada but also is the benchmark for participation and government funding.  Everyone benefits from a clear understanding of how many people participate in our sport, from the youngest fencers to our Olympians.
