 Supercamp is honored to have Peter Joppich joining the coaching staff this week. The German national and Olympic team member had the complete and undivided attention of every athlete in the gym this morning as he put the fencers through their paces...winning five world championships in foil has that kind of an effect.
Stay tuned for more action shots... Supercamp earned a feature segment in local television news today. The CTV Kitchener crew visited and got an education in world-class fencing. Reporter Carina Sledz interviewed recent Pan-Am gold medalists (team foil) Eleanor Harvey and Kelleigh Ryan as well as Ontario Cadet Brandon Jalowica...and then she suited up to give it a try herself. Her verdict? "A lot harder than it looks..." They may not all have had as much sleep as they wanted, but excitement of the camp buoyed them through their first day, and the coaches wasted no time in putting them to work.
